I often struggle with my friends who look for a simple solution to their health problems while totally ignoring the impact of their crazily paced lives on their minds and hormonal balances. Unfortunately excessive stress:
- Results in hormonal imbalances which are linked to host of issues like obesity, diabetes, and cardio-vascular diseases. A stressful environment lends easily to imbalance in cortisol, catecholamines, vasopressin, gonadotropins, thyroid hormones, growth hormones, prolactin and insulin. On the other hand love and happiness is associated with a secretion of beneficial oxytocin “cuddle” hormone.
- Is one of the causative elements leading to free radical induced oxidative stress. This in turn is found to disbalance the ER/PR functions and alter the biology and clinical behavior of ER positive breast cancer leading to a poor patient prognosis. Oxidative stress may contribute to the development of an aggressive subset of primary ER-positive breast cancers, including those exhibiting the ER-positive/PR-negative clinical phenotype.
Reset, slow down, take a deep breath, cuddle and secrete some beneficial oxytocin!
